This study aims to analyze the trajectory of the truck driver movement in Brazil, which took place in May 2018, in order to understand its relationship with the use of Whatsapp instant messaging (SMI). Thus, using the Actor-Network Theory (ANT) as a theoretical and methodological basis, associated with a unique case study, we identified the relevant actors in the formation of a socio-technical network related to truck stoppages that occurred in Brazil. The study reveals that these stoppages were made up of different actors aligned around a single mandatory crossing point - the social networks provided by Whatsapp. It was thus found that Whatsapp played a relevant role in this popular manifestation, favoring the change in the way protesters interacted and gathered, making formal organizations less necessary, and broadening the political participation of society as a whole.
