Over the last decade, Brazil's superior courts have suffered from an increasing problem: the enormous amount of Habeas Corpus (HCs) filed with them. Because of this, the Brazilian Supreme Court (STF) created the binding precedent 691.This research project (PIBIC) aims to carry out quantitative and then qualitative research on the possible causes for such many Habeas Corpus in the Supreme Court and the Superior ourt of Justice (STF and STJ). In addition, this Research Project seeks to make a quantitative analysis of the elements that appear most in the Habeas Corpus filed with the STF and STJ, so that solutions
can be sought to this major problem, which is the huge number of HCs in the superior courts, which undermines the efficiency of justice. Finally, the data collected by this Research Project can serve as inspiration for future academic research.
