Socioeconomic inequality is a recurring theme among researchers, who dedicate themselves to quantifying wealth concentration and evaluating the effectiveness of redistributive policies. This research investigates the factors that condition this support, analyzing the apparent contradiction between theoretical support for redistribution and resistance to its financing mechanisms, such as the taxation of the rich. The methodology combines a systematic literature review with the analysis of empirical data from a national survey conducted in 2022, with an overrepresentation of high-income strata. The results reveal a central paradox: although the responsibility for combating poverty is widely delegated to the State across all income brackets, the majority of respondents, including those who declare themselves in favor of social programs, oppose a tax increase.
