The research project "Trends in the application of the LGPD to the reality of e-commerce by the courts" sought, from the collection and analysis of empirical data, to formulate an understanding of the application of Brazilian courts on data protection in e-commerce to guide regulatory policies in the medium. It is known that the country's data protection legislation and regulatory agents still need greater practical maturity to establish a scenario of effective protection of consumer data’. In this sense, the project mapped 444 cases from 2019 to 2022 in order to divide them according to their category, civil liability, and type of personal data. After selecting the cases on the Juit platform, they were examined individually and then there was an exchange of cases between researchers (peer review). As a final product of the project, in addition to the spreadsheet with the proper categorization and in-depth analysis of each of the cases, the researchers wrote an article with themes related to data protection. With this, this research project aimed to understand how judicial decision-makers apply the rules of the general data protection law and how ecommerces are being held accountable in cases of data leakage. Thus, the project was able to create an empirical basis of practice and assess the frequency that data protection legislation in the country is properly applied
