What methodological criteria should be followed when writing an article? This research seeks to answer that question by applying methodological theory to the analysis of a significant proposition in the regulatory field, formulated by Cass Robert Sunstein in "Paradoxes of the Regulatory State." Thus, the main objective is to critically analyze Sunstein's propositions from the perspective of the main methodological dimensions: i) conceptual definition and measurement, ii) observation selection, and iii) causality identification. Initially, the theoretical foundations that support each of these methodological dimensions are discussed, highlighting the importance of clear and precise concept definitions, careful selection of observations to be analyzed, and robust identification of causal relationships between the studied variables. Subsequently, these dimensions are applied to a critical reading of Sunsteints propositions, aiming to identify their strengths and possible methodological limitations
