This report outlines the research activities conducted under the PIBIC projects focused on regulation and privacy in e-commerce. In the first project, the insufficiency and inconsistency of data collected precluded any substantive analytical development. In the second, the recent Resolution CD/ANPD No. 19/2024 guided the inquiry toward mechanisms of adequacy and international data transfers, through the analysis of 175 privacy policies. A pattern of generic references to data transfers was observed, with limited use of standard contractual clauses, prompting the central research question concerning the tension between trade secrets and the protection of personal data. The literature review and periodic group discussions revealed a theoretical gap in the field, underscoring its potential for original research with practical significance.
