This report details the research conducted under the PIBIC projects addressing regulation and privacy in e-commerce. The initial project faced methodological challenges, as the data collected was insufficient and inconsistent, preventing substantive analytical development. Consequently, the research focus shifted to a second project, guided by the recent Resolution CD/ANPD No. 19/2024. This phase centered on adequacy mechanisms and international data transfers, involving an analysis of 175 privacy policies. A pattern of generic references to data transfers was identified, with minimal application of standard contractual clauses. This finding prompted the central research question regarding the tension between the protection of trade secrets and the protection of personal data. A review of the current literature and periodic group discussions confirmed a theoretical gap in this field, highlighting the research's potential for original and practically significant contributions.
