This research project is closely aligned with several of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). By analyzing alternative governance models to address negative externalities, it contributes directly to SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), as it explores innovative frameworks that can improve urban management and the well-being of individuals living in increasingly dense environments. It also relates to SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production) and SDG 13 (Climate Action), since one of its focuses is the reduction of environmental damage, such as pollution, through mechanisms like carbon markets and the internalization of external costs. Moreover, the study engages with SDG 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions) by examining governance structures that emphasize consent, property rights, and institutional efficiency as alternatives to traditional state intervention. Finally, the project reinforces SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), as it highlights the role of cooperation between private and public actors in implementing governance systems capable of fostering sustainable economic and social outcomes.
